Precision Aerial Surveys can be an excellent tool for the monitoring of high risk land slide areas. High accuracy 1 cm resolution point cloud models can be generated of the risk area from the safe vantage point of a suitable UAV. Slope analysis can confirm the high risk areas which are then monitored on a continues basis for shifts. A complex method of ground and GPS referencing are being used to ensure accurate measurement of shifts. The expected accuracy are between 2-3 cm laterally and 3-5 cm vertically.

The following image is the result of a demonstration where objects were artificially placed on a site with two survey flights performed. The automated result clearly indicate the deltas between the scans and allows for a detail investigation of the specific highlighted areas only. Shifts are indicated dimensional via a scaler field.
